Pre-webinar Thoughtexchange

Don’t forget to tune into one of our Distance Learning family webinars on September 2 for the latest updates on Distance Learning in Fall 2020. We’ll have two Zoom sessions at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

In preparation for the September 2 family webinars, we want to know what questions you have about school this fall. What information do you still need?

Your responses will help us learn what we need to cover in the September 2 webinars. Thank you for participating.

Get Ready to Pre-order Your Fall Meals

We will begin serving food for the school year starting Wednesday, September 9. Due to Distance Learning, meals will be different. Families must pre-order school meals using our online pre-order system. Order forms will be available online in Vietnamese, Somali, Spanish and English beginning September 1. Menus will also be available with the pre-order link.  Families will submit their order once a week for the 5-day meal kit OR for the daily meals. Daily meals have the ability to be ordered daily or for the entire week. Order forms will be available Thursday through Sunday.

Unlike the summer food program, meals are not free, and students must be enrolled in Highline Public Schools

Cost and Payment

Daily meals will be $5 for both breakfast and lunch. Weekly meal kits will be $25. If a student qualifies for free or reduced-price meals, students will receive their meals at no charge.

Students at our 18 CEP schools can eat at no charge but still need to order in advance. See list of CEP schools on our website. Families are encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meals if they think they could be eligible and are not enrolled at one of the 18 CEP schools.

All payments will be done through Meal Time accounts. Students who need to pay for meals must have money on their Meal Time account to participate. Find directions for setting up a My Meal Time account on our website.

Weekly Meal Kits

Weekly Meal Kits can be picked up at four locations – with multiple times at each site every Monday. Locations and times are below.

Meal kits must be preordered. If a family does not pre-order a weekly meal kit and shows up to get one – we will provide them with a daily meal and have a paper copy for them to order a weekly meal kit for the next week.

Please note, that if the school week has fewer than five school days, meal kits will reflect that.

When you arrive, hold up a sheet of paper with your student's name written on it so Nutrition Services staff can quickly account for your student and deliver your meal kit promptly. See example below. This will help staff get meals out quickly so families can be served and get back to learning.

Daily Meal Pickups

Daily pickups will occur at select bus stops and elementary school locations. In order to maintain accountability for the meal program the student’s enrolled school is required in the meal pre-order. The meal pick-up site is also required, as families do not have to pick up at their enrolled site. Families may select any meal site location to pick up a meal.

If a family doesn’t pre-order, please go to an elementary school location to pick up a meal. If a meal is not pre-ordered student ID numbers will be required.

For safety reasons, please do not drive to the bus stops to pick up meals. There is not sufficient space for families to pull off the road at the bus stop. If you plan to drive to get your meal, please plan to pick up from an elementary school site. Elementary school sites will be the last stop of each bus route.

Check out a list of all the locations and times on our district website.
