Governor Inslee has announced that all K-12 school employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19. This directive legally requires Highline Public Schools staff to show proof of vaccination or a medical or religious exemption by October 18.
This requirement will not delay the start of school. We will continue to work closely with the unions representing our employees on details and implications of the Governor's order.
The vaccine requirement does not apply to students.
Highline Public Schools leaders, including the superintendent and school board, are legally required to follow the Governor's directive. The Governor did not give the option to be tested regularly for COVID-19 instead of getting a vaccine or exemption. A vaccine or exemption will be required to continue working in Highline or any school in Washington.
