This year, our secondary schools focused on helping students grow as readers, thinkers and speakers in every subject area. Students had more opportunities to read challenging texts, build vocabulary, discuss ideas with classmates and connect learning to their own lives and experiences. Teachers also worked to create classrooms where students feel seen, heard, and supported.

We are expanding Secondary Redesign to include middle schools, strengthening career-connected learning, instructional rigor, and real-world relevance. From new CTE science courses to career pathways, this work helps every student build confidence, explore interests, and prepare for future success.

As part of our ongoing commitment to student digital safety, we will require all middle and high school students to change their passwords during the week of March 23–27.

We are redesigning secondary schools to make learning more relevant and rigorous. Guided by student, family, and educator input, high schools are launching career pathways, expanding dual credit, increasing IB access, and offering hands-on learning through new schedules and partnerships. This work continues in 2025–26 to support every student’s success.

Highline’s community-led Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) reviewed and discussed conceptual site layouts and preliminary costs estimates for seven aging school sites at its October meeting.

Teachers at our secondary schools have created detailed course syllabi to support student learning. Each syllabus outlines course expectations, content descriptions, and the academic standards students will master by the end of the term.
